Background
“It has been very gratifying for Rosalynn and me to see Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà help people from some of the world’s poorest and most neglected communities get the tools and knowledge they need to dramatically improve their own lives,” said President Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ. “I look forward to sharing these stories and lessons with Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Center supporters on Facebook and Twitter.”
Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà regularly uses social media channels to support many of its efforts, especially those protecting human rights and strengthening democracy in fragile states, where these platforms have become an important tool among communities with limited access to news media and information.
Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà was founded in 1982 by former U.S. President Jimmy Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà and his wife, Rosalynn, in partnership with Emory University. A not-for-profit, nongovernmental organization, the Center has helped to improve life for people in more than 70 countries by resolving conflicts; advancing democracy, human rights, and economic opportunity; preventing diseases; improving mental health care; and teaching farmers to increase crop production.
