Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Center Statement on Executions in Myanmar

ATLANTA (July 25, 2022) — Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà condemns the executions carried out today by the State Administration Council in Myanmar. The resumption of the death penalty in Myanmar after a moratorium of decades is a sad and unnecessary step back. Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà expresses its condolences to the families of the four men who were executed and compassion for all those suffering as the result of the military coup d’état. Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ, which has worked for years to help Myanmar embrace democratic norms, urges a return to the path toward democracy and respect for human rights, rule of law, and peace.
