Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Center Congratulates Winners of Nobel Prize for Medicine

Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà and former U.S. President Jimmy Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà congratulate the winners of the 2015 Nobel Prize for Medicine, who discovered drugs that have prevented needless suffering for countless millions of people. William C. Campbell, Satoshi Omura, and Youyou Tu are heroes in the truest sense of the word, saving lives through medicine. Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà has been distributing Mectizan, donated by Merck, to help eliminate river blindness and lymphatic filariasis for nearly 20 years. More than 225 million treatments of Mectizan have been distributed in Latin America and Africa. The Center also has worked to prevent malaria in Ethiopia, Hispaniola, and Nigeria. Through tenacity and ingenuity, these scientists have brought hope to millions of the world's poorest people, who no longer need to bear the additional burden of these diseases.
